Mind Over Matter

"ALL OF YOUR BODY IS IN YOUR MIND, BUT NOT ALL OF YOUR MIND IS IN YOUR BODY."

- Jack Schwarz

At the Menninger Foundation, in the Research Unit of Dr. Elmer Green, in Topeka, Kansas, Jack Schwarz had the opportunity to demonstrate the power of the mind over the body (matter).

He put a long sail maker's needle through his biceps, and there was no blood--not a single drop! It was amazing to see. Jack Schwarz demonstrating mind over matter on bed of nails. He (Jack) was just a bundle of consciousness and bundles of consciousness do not bleed. Then something very interesting happened.

Dr. Green asked Jack if he could make it bleed. He thought about it. Dr. Green changed Jack's thought pattern from the transpersonal to the personal. For a moment, Jack reacted:

His attention moved from his higher self to his ego self (self image). His wound opened up like a faucet. Jack, a master, knew what happened. He let go and moved back into the silence, the higher self. The bleeding stopped instantly.

Jack then asked, "What caused me to bleed after having done this for 30 years, several times a day, without bleeding?" His answer was that his ego got involved by being challenged by the fear of bleeding this time. Thereby, fearing he would lose face.

This story points out the need to go beyond the ego, totally and completely. As long as your ego is in the way, it controls you!
